Welcome to the web page of Trinity United Methodist Church.  While the church is deeply imbedded in history, it keeps pace with the modern era.  In 1866, sixteen men and women left the Methodist Episcopal Church North (now Calvary United Methodist Church) to form the Methodist Episcopal Church South.  Because of their sympathies with the southern cause during the Civil War, they were made to feel quite unwelcome in the northern church.  By 1884, a now significant sized congregation built the current sanctuary, which remains as designed and built with few modifications. The young congregation built the new sanctuary for $13,000.   From those rebellious beginnings, where sixteen men and women chose to faithfully worship God, the church  has grown as a powerful spiritual force in Martinsburg, in Berkeley County and in the eastern panhandle.

Currently the church sponsors mission projects in Martinsburg, Southern West Virginia and Nogales, Sonora, MexicoTrinity United Methodist Church is a leader in providing meals and shelter for the homeless and the hungry in Martinsburg.  The church has a partnership relationship with McDowell Mission Project in Southern West Virginia, and works with Mexican immigration issues in Mexico and the United States.

Christian Education, of children, youth and adults, including Bible Studies and theme studies, is central to the program and mission statement of the church.   Additional forums on international issues also are  included in the church’s educational program.  Look for special events.

Come check us out.  We blend the old and historic with liturgy and mission that is fresh and vital.
